Editor,
All the Op-Eds and letters assigning blame for the recent escalation of Israeli-Palestinian violence miss the point.
This conflict is not really between Israelis and Palestinians, despite what the press and the letter-writers say. It is between hot-headed people who respond to any threat or challenge with armed violence, and the majority of people who want peace, coexistence, and negotiated resolution of conflicts.
That, not disputes over territory, resources, or religion, is the correct way to view all armed conflicts.
I say we spray the entire Middle East with Valium vapor, to cool those hot-heads down. More seriously, the moderate majority in both Israel and Palestine should disarm the hot-heads. Now.
